Hello and welcome! We founded Ephesian Community Food Share (ECFS) in 2007 with a compassionate vision to provide essential services to those in need in our community and beyond in Alameda County. As a non-profit organization, we are guided by our values of compassion, community, collaboration, integrity, equity and inclusion, empowerment, and impact, which inform all the work we do. We are dedicated to empowering families by equipping them with essential tools and resources, fostering a strong foundation for a sustainable future where they can thrive and achieve lasting success.
Remarkably, our story began with a prayer and a small act of kindness: my husband and I decided to spend our personal Christmas gift money to purchase groceries for a struggling family. This inspiring event was the catalyst that propelled Ephesian Community Food Share. Our first initiative, Food for All is a general grocery bag distribution, filled with healthy, nutritious first quality food items which serves individuals and families who struggle to afford essential items. We also feature two food programs for students; Healthy Breakfast for Kids and Weekender, each element offers healthy organic breakfast, lunch, and snack items for K-12 grade students who's families are caught in the grips of food scarcity and cannot provide these meals without assistance. We aim to provide help and support to those who need it most. We offer a variety of organic, nutritious choices, including whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, low/no-fat dairy products, and protein sources, to ensure that children receive a well-rounded meal that meets their dietary needs. Our focus is on promoting balanced nutrition and better health outcome while introducing them to healthy eating habits from an early age.
Referral Services and more, our services are designed to holistically address the needs of individuals, children, and families, providing them with the necessary tools to lay the groundwork for a strong future.
Within our unique approach is our focus on raising awareness and collaborating in the fight to eradicate food scarcity. We understand the paramount role that healthy eating plays in childhood development and well-being of of every community member. Our nutritious food programs are designed to promote a nutrient-rich diet and support good nutrition for individuals, children, and entire families.
In our effort to create a lasting impact in our community, we strive to make real, meaningful changes in the lives of those we serve. Beginning with a single family more than a decade ago, we have now expanded our reach to include thousands of individuals and families in Alameda County and beyond, providing nourishment and hope. As a team, we are deeply driven by our mission and passionate about the work we do.
